As the air cargo industry meets in Dubai for the World Cargo Symposium, dnata has announced the launch of three major cargo facilities. These are part of a global investment plan worth more than 110 million US dollars. The new facilities will be located in The Netherlands, the UAE, and Iraq, and are expected to open in 2025.
These new projects are designed to make dnata’s cargo and logistics operations faster, smarter, and more eco-friendly across the world.
Clive Sauvé-Hopkins, who is the CEO of Airport Operations at dnata, said, “As customer needs change and supply chains become more complex, we are building facilities that work well today and can easily adapt in the future. Our goal is to make our systems more automated, energy-efficient, and ready for growth.”
Smarter and Greener Cargo Facilities
All three new buildings are being built with the latest technology. They will use less manual work, offer live tracking of shipments, and include systems that can be upgraded easily in the future. The buildings will also be better for the environment, using features that save energy and reduce pollution.

What’s Being Built and Where:
Amsterdam, The Netherlands
dnata is spending over 70 million US dollars to build a large cargo centre at Schiphol Airport, called dnata Cargo City Amsterdam. The building will be 61,000 square meters and fully automated. It will be ready in July 2025 and will handle over 850,000 tonnes of cargo every year.
This new facility will use advanced technology like automated storage systems and self-driving vehicles to move cargo around. It will also give full control over every shipment from start to finish. Smart gates will use 3D scanners to measure the size and weight of shipments automatically. A special forklift system will help move items more quickly and safely inside the warehouse. Every shipment will go through checks to make sure the weight and size are correct.
Erbil, Iraq
dnata is building a 20,000 square meter cargo centre in Erbil with a 15 million US dollar investment. It will be ready by July 2025 and will increase the company’s cargo handling capacity in Iraq by 300%, reaching 66,000 tonnes each year.
This facility will use dnata’s ‘OneCargo’ system. It’s a smart software that helps manage safety, quality, and operations all in one place using cloud technology.
Dubai, UAE
In Dubai South, dnata is building another large cargo centre, covering 57,000 square meters. It is being built with a 27 million US dollar investment and will be finished by the end of 2025. It will handle up to 400,000 tonnes of cargo each year.
This warehouse will be fully temperature-controlled and will use both narrow and wide storage racks. There will also be special areas for loading and unloading trucks, which will help things move more efficiently.
Clive Sauvé-Hopkins added, “These new projects are not just about growing bigger. They’re about doing things better, faster, and in a smarter way. We want to improve how we work and be ready for whatever the future brings.”
