Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has started a new partnership with Google Cloud to bring more artificial intelligence (AI) into its work. The MD and CEO of DEWA, HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, welcomed a team led by Ziad Jammal, who is the General Manager of Google Cloud for UAE, Levant, and North Africa. Other important DEWA leaders like Marwan Bin Haidar, Waleed bin Salman, and Mohammed Bin Sulaiman also attended the meeting.
In this meeting, DEWA announced that it will use Google Cloud’s NotebookLM technology. With this, DEWA has started making AI-generated podcasts very quickly. These podcasts are of high quality and are available in many languages. This shows that DEWA wants to be the world’s first utility company that uses AI in all its work.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer said that this step follows the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who wants the UAE to be a world leader in AI. The UAE’s National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2031 aims to make the country a top player in this field by investing in people and important industries. DEWA has a clear plan to use AI deeply in its daily work so it can stay ahead in technology and become the first AI-native utility in the world.
By using NotebookLM, DEWA was able to reduce podcast production costs by 99% and make podcasts 95% faster than before. This helped DEWA to share information quickly, reach people in different languages, and save money. They saved about AED 25.5 million every year with this new technology.
Google Cloud played a big role in this success. Ziad Jammal said they are proud to work with DEWA, which is showing the true power of AI. He added that DEWA is leading the way in using AI to improve their work, cut costs, and create better services for everyone. Google Cloud will continue to support DEWA in its journey towards becoming a digital and AI leader.
This partnership proves how working together with strong technology companies can help DEWA grow sustainably and use digital tools to become even better. It shows DEWA’s strong promise to use AI for innovation and to support the UAE’s goals for the future.
