Actor Celina Jaitly has made an emotional public appeal for her brother, Major (Rtd.) Vikrant Kumar Jaitly, who has been detained in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for over a year. The actor, known for her advocacy on national issues and her family’s long-standing military background, shared a heartfelt post on social media, expressing her anguish and faith in the Indian government’s efforts to bring her brother home.
Celina’s Emotional Post for Her Brother
Sharing a picture of her brother in army uniform, Celina wrote,“#mybrotherandme : My Dumpy, I hope you're ok, I hope you know I'm standing with you like a rock, I hope you know I haven't slept a single night without crying for you, I hope you know I'd give up everything for you, I hope you know no one can ever come between us, I hope you know I left no stone unturned, I hope God will finally be kind to you & me my bhai, waiting for you….”
Her emotional post has drawn attention from fans and members of the film fraternity, who have expressed their solidarity and sent messages of support and prayers for her brother’s safe return.
Delhi High Court Seeks Government’s Response
The post came days after the Delhi High Court issued a notice to the Central Government, directing it to file a status report within four weeks regarding Major (Rtd.) Vikrant Kumar Jaitly’s detention.
Celina approached the High Court seeking legal and medical assistance for her brother through the Indian authorities. In its interim order, the court directed the appointment of a nodal officer to facilitate communication between Celina’s family and the detained officer and to ensure that he receives access to legal counsel and medical support.
Celina’s Continued Plea for Justice
Earlier, Celina had shared another detailed post about her brother’s situation, highlighting her year-long struggle to get answers. She wrote,“For one year I have searched for answers for you. Now I continue my prayers to our respected government to fight for you, to bring you back safely. My government, the only entity I trust, is the Government of India, & I know they will do everything to protect this 4th-generation soldier, son, grandson & great-grandson of war veterans, who has given his everything, his entire youth, in the service of our nation, holder of the COAS Commendation for Gallantry.”
The actor’s words underline both her personal anguish and her faith in the government’s ability to intervene diplomatically and ensure justice for her brother.
Legal Representation and Court Proceedings
Represented by advocates Raghav Kacker and Madhav Agarwal, Celina’s petition stresses the urgency of securing her brother’s safety and protecting his rights under international law.
The legal team informed the court that Major Jaitly has been in detention for over 14 months in Abu Dhabi, allegedly without proper access to legal or medical assistance.
They stated that a nodal officer has been appointed to assist in communication between the family and the detained officer and to ensure that effective legal help is provided. The legal counsel emphasized that these measures could strengthen bilateral cooperation between India and the UAE and help ensure the humane treatment of detained Indian nationals.
Major (Rtd.) Vikrant Kumar Jaitly, a decorated officer of the Indian Army’s special forces, was reportedly in the UAE for professional reasons before being detained under unclear circumstances. The exact nature of his detention and the reasons behind it remain undisclosed.
His family alleges that he was abducted and has been held without due process. Celina has repeatedly appealed to the government to intervene and secure his release, describing him as a “fourth-generation soldier” and a gallantry award recipient who served the nation with dedication.
Court Hearing Scheduled for December
The Delhi High Court has listed the matter for further hearing on December 4, when the Central Government is expected to present its detailed status report on the steps taken to ensure Major Jaitly’s safety and to pursue his release.
The court has also directed that regular updates be shared with Celina and her family through the designated nodal officer, ensuring transparency and coordination in the case’s progress.
Public Support and Emotional Outpouring
Celina Jaitly’s heartfelt appeals have triggered widespread empathy and concern among her followers, the film industry, and members of the armed forces community. Many have praised her strength and persistence, urging Indian authorities to intensify diplomatic efforts for her brother’s release.
The actor has often spoken about her deep respect for the Indian Army, having grown up in a family with generations of military officers. Her public plea reflects both her emotional connection to her brother and her unwavering trust in the nation’s institutions to deliver justice.
Awaiting Diplomatic Resolution
As the legal proceedings continue, attention now turns to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, which may play a crucial role in diplomatic discussions with UAE authorities. The next few weeks are expected to be decisive in determining the progress of efforts to bring Major (Rtd.) Vikrant Kumar Jaitly back to India.
