Amidst the persistent heavy snowfall engulfing Beijing, a metropolis of over 21 million residents, the weather bureau has issued an orange alert, prompting sweeping measures to address the challenges posed by the wintry conditions. The capital city, blanketed in snow since Tuesday, faces a multitude of disruptions, leading to significant regulatory actions.

The Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, responding to the adverse weather conditions, has taken the decisive step of suspending tourism operations in mountainous areas. Simultaneously, the directive extends to the closure of outdoor large-scale amusement facilities situated in non-mountainous scenic areas. The move aims to ensure the safety of residents and visitors alike amid the ongoing blizzard.

In tandem with these measures, the Beijing Municipal Education Commission has announced a temporary shift to online classes for all primary and secondary schools, kindergartens, and secondary vocational schools in the city. This adjustment seeks to mitigate potential risks associated with commuting and attendance during the severe weather conditions.

The relentless snowfall, expected to persist until Friday, has prompted the issuance of an orange alert, signaling the severity of the weather situation. Projections indicate snowfall exceeding 10 millimeters in various areas of Beijing, intensifying concerns about transportation safety and infrastructure stability.

Recognizing the need for public cooperation, the Beijing Emergency Management Bureau has urged citizens to prioritize public transportation and refrain from unnecessary travel to mountainous regions. Additionally, residents are advised to exercise caution in areas with accumulated snow, such as walls, old trees, and signboards, to avert potential hazards.

As the city grapples with the challenges posed by this unrelenting winter weather, these coordinated efforts by various municipal authorities underscore a commitment to safeguarding public welfare and ensuring the smooth functioning of essential services during these adverse conditions.
