Indian-Origin Worker Celebrates 40 Years at McDonald's Fame

Massachusetts – In a heartwarming celebration on Monday, Balbir Singh, an Indian-origin employee, received a grand send-off for completing 40 years at a McDonald’s outlet in Massachusetts. Arriving in a limousine, Singh was greeted by cheering coworkers and franchise leaders, marking four decades of dedication to the fast-food chain.

Singh, who moved to the United States in the 1980s, started his journey at McDonald’s in Somerville in 1985. From kitchen crew to supervising multiple stores, he steadily rose through the ranks, earning respect for his unwavering commitment to the company and its employees.

The milestone celebration featured a service award, a commemorative “One in Eight” jacket symbolising the many Americans who have worked at McDonald’s, and a $40,000 check, representing his 40 years of service. Colleagues, affectionately calling him “papa bear,” rolled out a red carpet and joined in a dinner honouring his contributions.

Franchise owner Lindsay Wallin expressed her admiration for Singh’s work ethic, recalling how he helped shape the restaurant’s culture and mentor new employees. “Balbir has embraced our motto of ‘Why not?’ and has inspired countless team members to grow with the company,” Wallin said.

Singh reflected on his long tenure with humility, describing McDonald’s as “kind of like family,” which explains why he has remained with the company for four decades. His journey, celebrated with genuine warmth and appreciation, stands as a testament to loyalty, dedication, and the human connections built over years of consistent hard work.
