Arsenal made a strong statement in the Premier League title race with a dominant 4-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday. The victory helped Arsenal move five points clear at the top of the table after recent draws had raised questions about their form.

Two goals each from Eberechi Eze and Viktor Gyokeres sealed Arsenal’s biggest league win at Tottenham since 1978. The result lifted Arsenal to 61 points from 28 matches. Manchester City, who defeated Newcastle United on Saturday, are second with 56 points and have played one game less.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta praised his team’s character after the match. He said the team showed what they are made of but must keep performing at the same level. Arteta also added that with ten games left in the season, the title race is far from over.

Arsenal had come into the match after successive draws, including a frustrating game against Wolverhampton Wanderers where they dropped points despite leading 2-0. The team responded strongly in the North London derby.

Eze, who joined Arsenal in the summer and was previously linked with Tottenham, opened the scoring in the 32nd minute with a fine volley. However, Tottenham equalised just two minutes later through Randal Kolo Muani after a mistake by Declan Rice.

Shortly after the break, Gyokeres restored Arsenal’s lead with a superb curling effort. Eze scored his second goal later in the second half to give Arsenal full control of the game. Gyokeres added another goal in stoppage time to complete a convincing 4-1 victory.

For Tottenham, it was a disappointing start for new manager Igor Tudor. Spurs are now winless in nine league matches and sit 16th in the table, just four points above the relegation zone. Tudor admitted that some issues cannot be fixed quickly and said the team must accept their current situation and work hard to improve.

In other Premier League matches, Liverpool secured a dramatic 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest. Alexis Mac Allister scored in the 97th minute to give Liverpool three points, although manager Arne Slot admitted a draw would have been a fair result. Liverpool are sixth with 45 points, level with Chelsea and Manchester United.

Crystal Palace beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-0, while Fulham defeated Sunderland 3-1 to move into the top half of the table.

With ten matches remaining, Arsenal have regained momentum and strengthened their position in the Premier League title race.
