Washington: Authorities in Arizona are searching for Ronald Lee Syvrud, a 66-year-old man accused of threatening former President Donald Trump over social media. According to the Cochise County Sheriff's Office, Syvrud has multiple outstanding warrants from Wisconsin.
The threat comes as Trump, the Republican nominee for the 2024 presidential election, is visiting Cochise County to tour the U.S. border with Mexico as part of his campaign activities.
When asked about the threat during his visit, Trump commented, "No, I have not heard that but I am not that surprised and the reason is because I want to do things that are very bad for the bad guys."
This incident is part of a broader pattern of threats against political figures ahead of the upcoming November 5 general election. In early August, a Virginia man faced charges for threatening Vice President Kamala Harris, while a New Hampshire man was arrested in December for threatening to kill Republican presidential candidates.

In a related case from July, Trump survived an attempted assassination where he was shot in the ear. The attack also resulted in injuries to two others and the death of one individual. The incident led to significant scrutiny of the U.S. Secret Service, culminating in the resignation of the agency's director.
Despite the recent threats and past security breaches, Trump expressed continued confidence in the Secret Service. He stated, "I have great respect for the Secret Service and the job they do," acknowledging their mistakes but emphasizing that they will learn from these experiences.
As the manhunt continues, authorities are urging anyone with information about Syvrud's whereabouts to come forward.
