Dubai Honours Winners of 9th Mohammed Bin Rashid Arabic Award

Dubai, UAE – In a landmark celebration under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the ninth edition of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Arabic Language Award honoured innovators, educators, and cultural champions shaping the future of the Arabic language. The event, held at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library, highlighted Dubai’s commitment to preserving Arabic as a vital cultural and intellectual asset.

The ceremony also witnessed the presence of Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, reflecting the leadership’s focus on nurturing Arabic language initiatives across education, technology, media, and culture.

This year, the Award drew entries from 65 countries, underscoring Arabic’s growing global recognition. The Education category led participation, showcasing the world’s rising interest in innovative approaches to teaching Arabic. Notable winners included Anisa Alif from the UAE for early education methods, Faseeh Center from Jordan for teaching Arabic to non-native speakers, and Abjadiyat (UAE) for school education initiatives.

In the Technology category, Lebanon’s Ataalam app was recognised for leveraging social networks and intelligent applications for learning Arabic, while Palestine’s Arabee Tools stood out for developing Arabic language processors and digital content. The Media and Communication sector honoured the UAE’s Majarra app for its impactful digital presence in Arabic media.

The Linguistic Policy, Planning, and Arabisation segment recognised Egypt’s translation of Good Governance of Antimicrobial Use, while Oman’s Student Behaviour Management Plays and the UAE’s Arabian Days Festival (Ayyam Arabia) were celebrated under Culture, Intellect, and Knowledge Society for promoting Arabic and reading culture. Spain’s Adiba Romero Sánchez received the Distinguished Global Personality Award.

The total prize fund of AED2.8 million (US$770,000) underscores the Award’s commitment to incentivising innovation and fostering competitiveness in Arabic language projects. Since its inception, the Award has recognised over 80 winners, creating a global network of initiatives that strengthen the language’s role in education, culture, and technology.

With each edition, Dubai positions itself as a hub of cultural innovation and intellectual exchange, reinforcing the vision that Arabic is not only a bridge to the past but a foundation for the future of knowledge and creativity.
