Beijing – American tennis sensation Amanda Anisimova delivered a stunning performance at the China Open 2025, defeating defending champion Coco Gauff 6-1, 6-2 in a dominant semi-final. The world number four needed just 58 minutes to secure her place in the championship match, marking her second WTA 1000 final of the year.
From the very first point, Anisimova set the tone, using her powerful baseline shots and precise groundstrokes to take a commanding 5-0 lead in the opening set. Gauff managed to hold serve for one game, but Anisimova quickly wrapped up the set 6-1. The second set followed a similar pattern, with Anisimova racing to a 5-0 advantage before Gauff briefly fought back to claim two games. The American then closed out the match 6-2 with her signature aggressive play and sharp court awareness.

This victory adds to an already impressive 2025 season for Anisimova. Earlier in the year, she reached the Wimbledon final and finished runner-up at the US Open, showing remarkable consistency on the biggest stages. Her win over Gauff also gives her a 2-1 lead in their head-to-head encounters.
Anisimova credited the supportive Beijing crowd for fueling her performance. “I had to bring my best tennis against Coco. The crowd’s energy really helped me stay focused and motivated throughout the match,” she said after the game.
Next, Anisimova will face either American fifth seed Jessica Pegula or Czech rising star Linda Noskova in the final. With her current form and growing confidence, she aims to capture her first China Open title and further cement her place among the sport’s elite.
