The event is organized by the Private Office of His Highness the Ruler of Dubai and is known as the world's largest community cycling event, both in terms of diversity and prize value. The race will take place at the Al Marmoom Nature Reserve, marking the end of the championship's ninth edition. The Women's Race is a key event that highlights the importance of women's participation in cycling across the UAE and the region.
His Excellency Omar bin Jumaa Al-Falasi, Director-General of the Private Office of His Highness the Ruler of Dubai, and head of the Supreme Organising Committee, shared that the Women's Race will feature two competitions. Both will start from the same point but at different times. The first race, spanning 107 km, is exclusively for Emirati female cyclists. The second race, covering a distance of 136 km, will welcome top women cyclists living in the UAE and other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
Al Tayer Motors is the event's sponsor, and the race is expected to attract a large number of participants. Over the past nine years, the championship has seen a steady rise in the number of female cyclists and the improvement in their skills. This growth has helped position the event as a leading platform for encouraging women to participate in sports and cycling.
The race route within the Al Marmoom Conservation Reserve has been carefully planned to meet top international standards. The course will challenge the cyclists while ensuring their safety through close collaboration with various government departments.
His Excellency Omar bin Jumaa Al-Falasi highlighted that, from the very start, the Al Salam Championship has placed significant importance on women's races. This commitment reflects the UAE's broader efforts to support women in all fields, including sports. He stressed that empowering women in sports goes beyond just competing; it also inspires healthier lifestyles within families and communities.
The committee has received a high number of applications from cyclists of many nationalities, which indicates the growing popularity and competitiveness of the Women's Race. The route has been designed not only to test the cyclists' abilities but also to showcase the breathtaking beauty of the Al Marmoom Nature Reserve. This stunning location continues to attract residents, citizens, and visitors alike.
The ninth edition of the Al Salam Cycling Championship started in December with the Sword of Honour race, celebrating the graduation of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum from the UK’s Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. This race was dedicated to Emirati amateur cyclists. Following this, the Ruler’s Court Elite Men’s Cycling Race took place on January 19, 2025. This 193 km race began at the historic Al Fahidi district and passed through several iconic landmarks of Dubai.
The championship is being organized with the support of key partners, including Dubai Police, Dubai Municipality, the Roads and Transport Authority, Dubai Sports Council, Dubai Sports Channel, the UAE Cycling Federation, and the Dubai Film Company. Their combined efforts help ensure the success and smooth running of this remarkable cycling event.
The Women's Race promises to be a thrilling and inspiring event. It will celebrate the strength, endurance, and dedication of female cyclists while promoting a culture of health and fitness throughout the UAE and the wider region.
