Taxi fares in Ajman are going up in July because petrol prices have increased. The cost per kilometer will rise to Dh1.76, up from Dh1.74, according to taxi operators.

Earlier this week, the UAE fuel price committee announced new prices for petrol and diesel for July 2025. Super 98 petrol will now cost Dh2.70 per litre, higher than Dh2.58 in June. Special 95 petrol will cost Dh2.58 per litre, up from Dh2.47 last month.

The E-Plus petrol category will be sold at Dh2.51 per litre, compared to Dh2.39 in June. Diesel prices also increased to Dh2.63 per litre, up from Dh2.45.

Looking ahead, there is hope that fuel prices might go down soon. This is because global oil prices dropped sharply last week by about 13%, breaking a three-week rise. The earlier price increases in June led to the higher fuel costs for July.

One main reason for the recent drop in oil prices was a ceasefire deal between Israel and Iran. This helped ease worries about oil supply problems from the Middle East, which provides about one-third of the world’s oil.

On Monday, oil prices recorded their biggest weekly drop in two years. Many investors bet that oil prices would go down after the Iran-Israel ceasefire, just before OPEC+ countries planned to increase oil production.

West Texas Intermediate crude oil was trading near $65 a barrel after last week’s 13% fall. Even though Iran doubts the ceasefire will last, former U.S. President Donald Trump said he might support lifting sanctions if Iran remains peaceful.

OPEC+ members are expected to discuss raising oil production by 411,000 barrels per day in August. This would be the fourth month in a row with a big increase in supply—three times more than originally planned.

Vivek Dhar, an expert at Commonwealth Bank of Australia, said the focus will shift from Iran’s oil exports to the OPEC+ supply decision soon. He added that OPEC+ may accept lower oil prices to avoid losing market share.
