Ajman has announced new, strict regulations for vehicles transporting petrol and other flammable fuels. This decision comes as part of the emirate’s efforts to ensure public safety and prevent accidents caused by vehicles carrying hazardous materials. Under the new rules, petrol transport vehicles will no longer be allowed to park or even stop in areas that are not specifically designated for them. This includes densely populated neighborhoods, residential streets, busy commercial areas, and other locations where stopping could pose serious risks.

The Supreme Energy Committee of Ajman has been given the responsibility to enforce the rules, monitor compliance, and take action against violators. The committee will work closely with authorized judicial officers who can document violations and apply administrative penalties. Authorities have emphasized that these measures are designed to protect both residents and workers, given the highly flammable nature of petrol and other fuels.

Why This Regulation is Important

Petrol and fuel transport vehicles carry materials that can catch fire or explode if handled incorrectly. Accidents involving fuel trucks are dangerous because even a small spill or spark can lead to large-scale fires. By restricting where these vehicles can stop or park, the government hopes to reduce the risk of accidents, fires, and injuries, especially in areas where people live or work in close proximity.

Experts note that enforcing designated parking areas for fuel trucks is a common safety practice globally, but this is the first time Ajman has introduced such detailed penalties for violations. The government also wants to make sure businesses handling petrol take responsibility for public safety, not just drivers.

Penalties for Violations

The penalties for violating the new rules are strict and progressive, meaning repeated violations lead to harsher consequences:

* First Offense: A fine of Dh5,000

* Second Offense: A fine of Dh10,000

* Third Offense: A fine of Dh20,000, plus vehicle impoundment and potential public auction coordinated with the Ajman Municipality and Planning Department

In addition to fines, businesses that fail to comply with safety rules may face further action. The Supreme Energy Committee has the authority to suspend or cancel petrol trading licenses for non-compliant establishments. Any violation that occurs in densely populated areas or threatens public safety will result in the immediate removal of the vehicle, with costs borne by the owner of the transport company or business.

Implementation Timeline and Public Awareness

These rules will come into effect 30 days after the announcement, giving transport companies, drivers, and businesses time to prepare and adjust their operations. Authorities are also expected to launch awareness campaigns to educate drivers about the new designated parking zones and safe handling procedures for petrol.

Ajman officials have stressed that these regulations are not intended to punish businesses but to ensure safety for everyone living and working in the emirate. By enforcing stricter rules, the government hopes to reduce accidents, prevent potential fires, and maintain public confidence in fuel transportation safety.

Looking Ahead

The new regulation reflects Ajman’s commitment to public safety and proactive governance. It also serves as a reminder to all UAE residents that safety measures, especially regarding hazardous materials, are taken very seriously. Authorities expect that compliance will increase over time as businesses adjust to the new requirements, and violations will be minimized through continuous monitoring and enforcement.

The move is expected to make Ajman one of the safest emirates in the UAE regarding fuel transport operations, setting an example for other emirates to follow. Residents can expect safer neighborhoods and reduced risks of fuel-related accidents as authorities implement these measures rigorously.
