Actor Aftab Shivdasani, who entered Hindi cinema as a child artiste, has firmly dismissed rumours about drug use that circulated during his early years in the industry. The 47-year-old actor, known for films like Mr India, Mast, Kasoor, and the Masti franchise, addressed the allegations while emphasizing the importance of truth over gossip.
In a recent interview, Aftab said, “The truth doesn't make noise. The truth is always silent. And the truth doesn't need to prove itself.” He described the rumours as “the funniest” he had heard about himself and underlined that he has always chosen to focus on his work rather than engage in controversies.
Beyond rumours, Aftab also spoke about perceptions of his personality and alleged attitude problems. Reflecting on his long journey in Bollywood, which began with the iconic Mr India in 1987, he admitted that the film industry is “very unforgiving.” He recalled facing criticism and encountering adversaries but stated that he has consciously maintained a balanced reputation. “I had loads of enemies and people talking badly about me. Thankfully, I've built a reputation where people may not like me, but they don't hate me — because they don't know me enough,” he explained.
Having started his career at the age of nine, Aftab has witnessed the highs and lows of Bollywood firsthand. He believes that staying true to oneself and focusing on one’s craft are key to surviving in the competitive industry.
Aftab Shivdasani is set to appear in the fourth installment of the adult comedy franchise, Mastiii 4, directed by Milap Zaveri. The film also stars Vivek Oberoi and Riteish Deshmukh and promises to continue the franchise’s signature mix of humor and drama.
With a career spanning over three decades, Aftab continues to be a respected figure in Bollywood, known not only for his performances but also for his measured approach to fame, controversies, and personal integrity.
