ADNOC has awarded an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract to Jereh Oil & Gas Engineering Corporation, valued at up to $920 million (AED3.38 billion). The contract, which was awarded by ADNOC Onshore, aims to enhance the company's AI-powered well digitalisation programme. This will be achieved by installing remote sensing and well-operating equipment across ADNOC's onshore Bab, Bu Hasa, and Southeast fields. The objective is to extend the digitalisation programme to cover more than 2,000 wells, bringing increased efficiency, safety, and performance across the fields.
Under the agreement, over 80% of the contract's value will remain in the UAE through ADNOC’s In-Country Value (ICV) program, which is designed to support local economic growth and diversification. This focus on the UAE's economy is a key part of ADNOC's strategy, ensuring that the contract benefits not only ADNOC but also the wider industrial sector.

The well digitalisation programme, expected to be completed by 2027, will enable the remote monitoring and control of over 2,000 wells, improving operational efficiency and safety. By reducing downtime and optimising well performance, the programme aims to advance ADNOC’s long-term operational goals. Furthermore, the AI-powered programme is aligned with ADNOC's broader strategy to accelerate the adoption of cutting-edge technologies and AI solutions across its operations.
Abdulmunim Saif Al Kindy, ADNOC’s Upstream Executive Director, commented on the significance of the contract, stating, "This award will accelerate our well digitalisation programme and the automation of our operations, supporting our goal to become the world’s most AI-enabled energy company. As we harness the power of industry-leading technologies to further optimise our operations, we are ensuring that we continue to drive significant value back into the UAE economy. The substantial In-Country Value generated by this award will further catalyze industrial growth opportunities for the private sector.”
The digitalisation programme is already operational in ADNOC’s onshore Mender and Qusahwira fields, as well as the Northeast Bab (NEB) field, which is ADNOC’s first “smart field” introduced in 2006. The digitalisation involves the installation of control valves, instrumentation, and other hardware that will collect real-time operational data from sensors embedded within the wells and pipelines. This data will be transmitted to control rooms through ADNOC's large-scale private 5G network, developed in partnership with e&, ensuring real-time monitoring of key variables like temperature and pressure.
These advancements will enable AI-powered solutions, such as the RoboWell system from AIQ, to autonomously control well operations. The real-time data collected will help optimise well performance, improve safety, and ensure greater operational efficiency. This marks a significant milestone in ADNOC’s ambitious plans to incorporate more advanced technology into its operations, positioning the company as a leader in AI-enabled energy production.
