AD Ports Group and ITC will jointly support developing and least developed countries (LDCs) in implementing the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA), aiming for smoother cross-border transactions. They will also prioritize inclusivity by empowering small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through tailored trade strategies and initiatives. Additionally, the partnership aims to promote women's participation in trade facilitation and economic empowerment programmes.
The collaboration will leverage AD Ports Group's technological advancements and ITC's expertise to advance customs digitalization and trade facilitation. Both entities plan to co-develop services, participate in industry events, and share knowledge to strengthen customs excellence and trade facilitation capabilities globally.
Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi expressed enthusiasm about being the first ports and logistics entity to partner with ITC, highlighting the strategic importance of the collaboration in advancing the UAE's economic diversification efforts. He emphasized the potential for integrating more SMEs into global value chains and enhancing overall operational efficiency.
Pamela Coke-Hamilton emphasized the transformative impact of digital trade solutions on SMEs from developing countries, emphasizing their goal to create a more efficient, inclusive, and sustainable trading environment. ITC, established in Geneva in 1964, supports international trade by providing advisory services, capacity building, and trade-specific data to governments and businesses worldwide.
