The Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD) has announced that its e-Green digital platform has issued a total of 8,529 certificates since its launch in 2022, marking significant engagement in environmental education. Currently, the platform boasts 3,900 active users who have collectively spent over two years engaging with its courses.
Launched as the region's first free-to-use e-learning tool dedicated exclusively to the environmental sector, e-Green offers 68 modules and 13 courses accessible to everyone. In 2023, EAD expanded its offerings with a new course on climate change, aligning with the UAE's role as host of COP28 UAE.
Ahmed Baharoon, Executive Director of Environment Information, Science Outreach Management Sector at EAD, expressed pride in the platform's rapid growth, noting its impact on fostering environmental awareness. He emphasized the platform's popularity among youth, highlighting their pivotal role in driving future conservation efforts.

Plans for e-Green include the introduction of Arabic-language content to broaden accessibility and preserve UAE cultural identity. Additional courses are slated for release to enhance the platform's educational breadth and depth.
Currently, e-Green features 10 courses tailored for schools, including the Sustainable Schools Initiative (SSI), which promotes environmental stewardship among Abu Dhabi schools. Established in 2009, the SSI has attracted 552 participating schools and offers courses such as Green Schools Audit and Environmental Clubs, tailored for different educational levels.
Another focus area, Biodiversity, offers courses like Geography of Abu Dhabi and Marine Vertebrates, aiming to deepen understanding of local ecosystems. These initiatives underscore EAD's commitment to nurturing a new generation of environmentally conscious leaders through comprehensive and accessible educational resources.
