The agreement was signed by Prof. Ghassan Aouad, the Chancellor of ADU, and Deepak Tyagi, the Director of Shanghai Stemstar. The event was attended by Dr. Hamad Odhabi, ADU’s Vice Chancellor for AI and Operational Excellence, Prof. Barry O'Mahony, Provost of ADU, and Salem Al Dhaheri, ADU’s Executive Director of Community Relations.
As part of this partnership, ADU and Shanghai Stemstar will set up an R&D center at the university. This center will be a place for research on technology, STEM, and sustainability. The partnership will also offer training for high school students, special programs for Shanghai Stemstar workers, joint projects between both institutions, and help with ADU’s major events like the International Conference on Sustainable Future.
Prof. Ghassan Aouad said: “Our partnership with Shanghai Stemstar helps improve STEM education and support new ideas. We are working together to create great opportunities for students and teachers to take part in research, gain real-world experience, and make a positive impact in their fields. At ADU, we want to help students become leaders, find sustainable solutions, and grow the UAE’s science and technology sector.”
ADU and Shanghai Stemstar will also offer programs for research, sharing knowledge, networking, and camps for students in important fields like technology, STEM, and sustainability.
Deepak Tyagi, Director of Shanghai Stemstar, said: “Working with Abu Dhabi University allows us to mix strong academic knowledge with real-world ideas. Together, we want to inspire the next generation of leaders and creators who will make a better future.”
Dr. Hamad Odhabi, ADU’s Vice Chancellor for AI and Operational Excellence, said: “We are seeing a big change because of technology, which is changing industries and how we learn. This partnership is important because it will help students use the newest technology and tools to lead innovation and solve real-world problems.”
This partnership is part of ADU’s plan to offer more programs that meet the needs of today’s industries. The university has recently launched 13 new programs, including bachelor’s degrees in International Relations, Psychology, AI Engineering, and Renewable & Sustainable Energy Engineering. It has also introduced seven master’s programs in areas like AI, Cybersecurity, Digital Communication, and Public Health, and PhDs in Law and Education.
