The second edition of the Abu Dhabi Global Health Week (ADGHW) ended with a strong promise to change the way the world thinks about and supports healthier and longer lives. The event focused on digital health, artificial intelligence (AI), prevention, personalized medicine, and how to live longer. ADGHW was an important step in Abu Dhabi’s goal to improve health and well-being for everyone.

Held under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, and organized by the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH), the event welcomed 14,290 visitors, 1,295 delegates from global organizations, 140 exhibitors, and 271 speakers from 95 countries.

At the opening ceremony of ADGHW 2025, His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan attended and toured the exhibition. His presence showed Abu Dhabi’s commitment to making health and living longer a key part of the country’s development plans. The event also saw the participation of other important leaders, including His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed, and His Excellency Sheikh Shakhboot Nahyan Al Nahyan, the Minister of State.

His Excellency Mansoor Al Mansoori, Chairman of the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, said that ADGHW is a product of Abu Dhabi's vision to improve health. It brings together people from different areas, like policy-making, research, and healthcare, to work together on shaping the future of health. The event helped shift the conversation from simple prevention and diagnosis to how we can increase lifespan and healthspan, making sure everyone has access to better health.

Many important global leaders from the health and policy sectors also took part in the event. This included 11 international government ministers and representatives from countries like the UAE, Armenia, Egypt, Greece, and Russia. There were also many distinguished participants, including Leymah Gbowee, a Nobel Peace Prize winner from Liberia, and leaders from global health organizations.

The event hosted 69 sessions and led to the signing of 33 important agreements that focus on using AI and data to prevent and treat diseases, extend healthy lifespans, and create stronger, fairer healthcare systems. These agreements also aim to speed up investment in life sciences to bring about innovative solutions where they are needed the most.

One of the key highlights of ADGHW was the Health Leaders Roundtable, where senior government officials discussed the challenges and opportunities in using AI in healthcare. There was also the launch of the Health, Endurance, Longevity and Medicine (HELM) cluster, which is designed to encourage healthcare innovation and attract investment to benefit global populations.

Other big moments included the launch of a Declaration on Longevity and Precision Health, which sets out a global plan to not only increase lifespans but also improve health throughout life. The event also marked the opening of a regional vaccine hub, following a partnership between DoH and GSK, a biopharma company.

Another major development was the unveiling of the AI-powered Population Health Intelligence Framework, the first true learning health system in the world that can continuously predict, prevent, and respond to public health challenges. This was followed by the release of a new report on how genomics can improve health and help with Abu Dhabi’s vision for personalized medicine.

ADGHW also served as a platform for new ideas and innovations. The event featured a Startup Zone and a Smart Health Hackathon, where health tech startups could connect with investors and mentors to grow their businesses. The ADGHW Innovation Awards were given to solutions that addressed major health challenges, with a total prize of US$200,000.

As new health threats appear and old problems continue, Abu Dhabi remains dedicated to shaping a future where health is proactive, data-driven, and benefits everyone. The event showed the world how much is possible when we work together to improve well-being for all.
