In a major security development near the national capital, authorities have uncovered 350 kilograms of explosives, an assault rifle, and other weapons in Faridabad, Haryana. The discovery came after the arrest of two doctors from Jammu and Kashmir, revealing a disturbing link between medical professionals and alleged terror-related activities.
According to officials, the operation was jointly conducted by Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana police following crucial leads obtained during the interrogation of Dr. Adil Ahmad Rather, who was arrested last week from Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh. Rather, originally from Anantnag, was detained for allegedly putting up posters in Srinagar supporting the banned terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed.
Investigations revealed that Rather had connections with another doctor, identified as Dr. Mujammil Shakeel from Pulwama, who worked at Al-Falah Hospital in Faridabad. Acting on Rather’s statements, police recovered 350 kg of explosives, suspected to be ammonium nitrate, along with 20 timers, a pistol, three magazines, a walkie-talkie set, and an AK-47 rifle.
Earlier, Jammu and Kashmir police had seized an AK-47 rifle and ammunition from Rather’s locker at the Government Medical College in Anantnag, where he was previously employed. Both doctors are now under investigation for their suspected links to terror groups.
Faridabad Police Commissioner Satender Kumar Gupta confirmed the recovery and stated that the explosives were stored in a residential area. “Such a large-scale recovery near Delhi is deeply concerning. The matter is being investigated jointly with intelligence agencies,” he added.
Sources revealed that the explosives were likely meant for a larger terror operation, though the exact plan remains unclear. Officials are probing how such a huge quantity of explosives could have been transported undetected to a location just miles away from Delhi.
This revelation has raised serious concerns about the growing trend of highly educated individuals being drawn into extremist networks. Both doctors are currently being questioned under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the Arms Act.
Security agencies have intensified surveillance in and around the National Capital Region following the seizure, while forensic teams are analyzing the explosives to confirm their composition.
Authorities have assured that additional raids are being conducted to track down any other individuals linked to the case.
