PureHealth Acquires 60% Stake in HHG for €800 Million

Abu Dhabi-based healthcare giant PureHealth has completed the acquisition of a 60 per cent stake in Hellenic Healthcare Group (HHG), Greece and Cyprus’s leading private healthcare provider, for a total consideration of €800 million. The deal values HHG at €1.3 billion, marking a major milestone in PureHealth’s ambition to build a globally connected, innovation-driven healthcare platform.

HHG operates 11 hospitals and 23 diagnostic centres, serving over 1.4 million patients annually. With a workforce of more than 6,700 healthcare professionals, the group now becomes a key part of PureHealth’s international network, reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s growing reputation as a hub for healthcare excellence.

The signing ceremony, held in Greece, was attended by senior government officials, including HE Kyriakos Pierrakakis, Minister of National Economy and Finance, and HE Adonis Georgiadis, Minister of Health of the Hellenic Republic, alongside PureHealth executives and HHG leadership.

This acquisition follows PureHealth’s recent international expansion, including the $1.2 billion purchase of the UK’s Circle Health Group in 2024 and a $500 million investment in US-based Ardent Health Services in 2022, which successfully went public on the NYSE in 2024. These strategic moves demonstrate the group’s disciplined approach to building a diversified, high-quality healthcare portfolio across multiple geographies and currencies.

The transaction strengthens medical expertise, broadens access to advanced healthcare services, and positions PureHealth to leverage technology and AI to transform patient care across borders. CVC Capital Partners and HHG management retain a 40 per cent stake in HHG, ensuring continuity and supporting future growth.

With this move, PureHealth not only expands its global footprint but also enhances collaboration and knowledge-sharing across its international network, setting the stage for further innovation in patient-centred healthcare delivery.
