Sharjah Forum Spotlights Women Driving Technology Innovation

Sharjah, UAE – The 6th edition of the Women in Technology Forum, organized by the Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park (SPARK), opened yesterday under the theme “Future Lifestyles.” The event drew prominent female leaders, technology experts, and young entrepreneurs from around the world.

The forum was inaugurated by Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of SPARK, who emphasized the pivotal role of women in shaping innovation and driving progress in science, research, and advanced technologies. She highlighted that women have historically been engines of social development, contributing significantly to health, education, and care systems. Sheikha Bodour called for greater female participation in emerging technological fields, stressing that combining women’s long-term strategic thinking with new technologies could lead to smarter, healthier, and more resilient societies.

“This is an age of transformation. Women must be central to shaping our technological future,” Sheikha Bodour said, urging action to strengthen female leadership in innovation sectors.

The forum featured a diverse program, including keynote speeches, panel discussions, and interactive workshops. Topics ranged from health technologies and longevity-enhancing innovations to artificial intelligence, robotics, sustainability, and smart lifestyles. A high-level CEOs’ panel explored policies to empower women in technology, while a youth session organized by the Sharjah Youth Council offered young participants a platform to share ideas and aspirations.

Ohood Khalfan Al Roumi, UAE Minister of State for Government Development and the Future and Chairperson of the Higher Committee for Government Digital Transformation, addressed the forum, emphasizing the connection between technological development and improved quality of life. She noted that technology serves not only as a tool for smart systems but also as a catalyst for healthier and higher-quality living for communities and individuals. She also lauded the leadership of Sheikha Bodour, describing her as a visionary figure inspiring women in the UAE and globally.

Hussain Al Mahmoudi, CEO of SPARK, said, “Innovation thrives when diverse voices come together. Women’s participation in technology is vital to building sustainable knowledge economies. The Women in Technology Forum provides a dynamic platform for women innovators to lead the future of science and technology.”

The event brought together global experts and female entrepreneurs, offering insights into advancing women’s role in technology and creating inclusive innovation ecosystems. By fostering international collaboration and dialogue, the forum underscores Sharjah’s commitment to empowering women and promoting sustainable technological development.
