Vikrant Karyakarte: The Artist Who Paints the Rhythm of Life.

Post by: Layla Badr

Dubai: As you stroll through the vibrant lanes of World Art Dubai 2025, a particular booth catches your eye—not because it shouts for attention, but because it hums with harmony. Against crisp white walls, graceful faceless women twirl, peacocks with ornate patterns strut with flair, and vivid traditional colors echo the rhythm of joy. This is the world of Vikrant Karyakarte, a figurative artist from India whose creations don’t just speak—they sing.

What strikes most viewers instantly is the absence of facial features in Vikrant’s women. But rather than making them feel incomplete, it gives them universality—an open canvas where any viewer can place their own emotion, memory, or spirit. “Generally we find clear faces with eyes, nose... but I want to show the pure soul,” says Vikrant. “The purity of the soul is more important than physical beauty.”

His women are confident, adorned in ornate jewelry and traditional attire, immersed in their own moments—dancing, admiring flowers, holding a bird. It’s as if each one is caught in a fragment of celebration, of quiet power. “I want to show that the woman is happy, enjoying every best movement of life. That’s the rhythm I paint.”

Alongside his women, peacocks walk, pose, and sway with stylized elegance. But look closer, and you’ll see they aren’t ordinary peacocks. Each is uniquely hand-designed—body covered in intricate motifs, feathers flowing like henna patterns. Why the peacock? “It is the most beautiful bird. I created my own design on its body to show that it is enjoying life,” Vikrant explains. “That’s the thought behind it—we too can create our life beautifully, like it.”

Vikrant’s journey with art began early. “Since my childhood I’ve made paintings,” he recalls, “but I’ve been a professional artist for 12 years now.” But to him, it was never just a career—it was breath. “It’s not just a profession. It is oxygen for me.”

His style, which draws deeply from Indian miniature art traditions, is not an imitation of the past, but a reimagination. His works carry textured finishes, intricate layers, and bold forms that bridge classical Indian aesthetics with a contemporary visual beat. “Indian miniature is my base. But I create it in my own way—adding textures and freshness, so the paintings feel traditional and modern both.”

Despite the spiritual calm in his work, Vikrant’s life is deeply connected to emotion and relationships. When asked about his most emotional artwork, he shares a tender memory: “My son is 11 now. But when he was just four months old, I made a painting of him. That is my most emotional piece.”

His hometown, his family, his surroundings—all feed into his imagination. “Old memories, my friends, my family—everything inspires me,” he says with humility.

He begins each artwork with sketches—doing many each day. One sketch calls to him, and then it makes its way onto the canvas. “Colors and textures I decide while making it. Ideas come in flow—while I paint.” This openness to process is what makes his work feel alive.

What does he hope his viewers take away from his art? “Pleasure,” he says with a smile. “I want my paintings to take people to a different world. Somewhere happy.” Even though he’s found a signature style that wins hearts across exhibitions, Vikrant isn’t one to settle. “Painting is a never-ending journey. I’m always searching beyond my limitations.” And what lies ahead? “I’d love to work on different styles too,” he adds. That thirst to grow—to experiment, evolve, and explore—is what keeps his art not just relevant, but timeless.

At World Art Dubai 2025, where futuristic installations and digital art often steal the spotlight, Vikrant Karyakarte’s booth offers something different—stillness, spirit, and celebration of life’s most elegant moments. His visit to Dubai wasn’t just about showcasing art. It was about bringing stories from his soul to the world stage—stories painted with devotion, decorated with heritage, and delivered with a smile. If art is meant to connect, to comfort, and to elevate—then Vikrant’s work has already succeeded.

Because in his world, joy wears bangles, walks with a peacock, and speaks in colors that every heart understands.
