The Vietnamese government has implemented new measures aimed at bolstering transport services and ensuring traffic safety for the approaching Hung Kings Commemoration Day, along with the April 30–May 1 holiday period in 2026.

An official announcement from Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc underlines the anticipated increase in travel demand, which may significantly strain transport networks and elevate risks of congestion and accidents.

Authorities are tasked with enhancing capacity across various transport modes including road, rail, air, and waterways to facilitate safe and convenient travel during this peak holiday season.

The government underscores the need for strict adherence to traffic regulations, directing policing units to amplify patrols and act decisively against frequent infractions that commonly lead to accidents, such as excessive speed, illegal racing, and unsafe driving practices.

Moreover, ministries and local bodies are urged to closely watch transport fare trends and prevent unjustified hikes, particularly in light of fuel price fluctuations, ensuring fairness and transparency for travelers.

Efforts will also prioritize effective coordination between transportation agencies and local authorities to manage traffic, alleviate congestion, and maintain smooth links to key transit points including airports, railway stations, and bus terminals.

The Ministry of Health has been directed to prepare emergency services, making sure medical personnel and equipment are available for rapid response to any incidents, aiming to lessen potential casualties during the holidays.

Furthermore, public awareness initiatives on traffic safety will be enhanced, promoting responsible conduct among drivers and passengers while ensuring timely updates on traffic situations and risks.

Public hotline numbers will be established for reporting issues, and agencies will operate continuously to oversee transportation activities throughout the holiday period.
