DORTMUND, Germany — A large-scale operation by Germany’s elite tactical police unit, the Spezialeinsatzkommando (SEK), unfolded today in Dortmund’s Nordstadt district as authorities responded to developments linked to a recent homicide in nearby Hagen.
Heavily armed SEK officers were deployed across the urban neighborhood, with multiple road closures implemented and local residents advised to remain indoors as a precaution. Witnesses reported seeing tactical units positioned strategically across key streets, supported by specialized vehicles and surveillance equipment.
Authorities confirmed that the operation is part of an ongoing cross-city manhunt, connecting the Hagen murder case to suspects believed to have fled into Dortmund. The SEK’s deployment aims to apprehend individuals considered armed and dangerous, ensuring public safety while preventing potential escalation.
Police urged residents to cooperate and stay updated via official channels, highlighting the importance of public vigilance during the intervention. No injuries have been reported among civilians, and SEK officers are continuing their search with forensic teams and canine units involved.
This intervention underscores the growing cooperation between regional police forces in North Rhine-Westphalia and the use of specialized tactical units to respond rapidly to high-risk criminal developments.
Authorities have not released details about the suspect(s) or the circumstances of the Hagen homicide but have promised further updates as the operation continues.
