UP Man Issues Triple Talaq Over Unmet Scorpio Dowry Demand

In Uttar Pradesh's Banda, a legal case has been initiated against a man who purportedly invoked instant triple talaq against his wife following a dispute over dowry. The conflict arose when his demand for a Scorpio car as part of the dowry was not met.

The complainant, married in 2015 per Muslim customs, stated that her father had initially provided a dowry of Rs 15 lakh. However, since the marriage, her husband and other in-laws, including five brothers-in-law, allegedly continued making additional dowry demands.

Facing non-compliance with these demands, the woman claimed to have experienced physical and mental abuse, threats of a second marriage, and was reportedly expelled from her home in July the previous year.

Currently residing at her parental home, the woman disclosed that her husband recently visited and initiated a confrontation, insisting on a Scorpio car as dowry. Upon the rejection of this demand, he allegedly pronounced triple talaq.

Seeking legal action, the woman has filed complaints against her husband and in-laws for dowry harassment and the triple talaq incident. Authorities have initiated an investigation, and efforts are underway to apprehend the accused individuals.
