UAE Sends 91.6 Tonnes Aid to Flood-Hit Mozambique

Dubai Humanitarian (DXBH), under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has sent urgent aid to communities affected by severe floods in Maputo, Mozambique.

A Boeing 747F cargo aircraft from the Dubai Air Wing carried 91.6 metric tonnes of essential relief supplies, including tarpaulins, kitchen sets, sleeping mats, blankets, emergency health kits, mosquito nets, and materials for prefabricated shelters. The shipment, provided through the World Food Programme’s United Nations Humanitarian Response Depot (WFP–UNHRD), is expected to support over 38,000 people impacted by one of Mozambique’s worst floods.

Giuseppe Saba, CEO of Dubai Humanitarian, said, “Following the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Humanitarian acts as a global hub for emergency response. This airlift shows our ability to quickly mobilise critical aid to communities facing crises, including those worsened by climate change.”

Walid Ibrahim, UNHRD Network Coordinator at WFP, added, “We are grateful to Dubai Humanitarian for providing the aircraft to support Mozambique flood relief. This partnership ensures lifesaving supplies reach tens of thousands of affected people swiftly.”
