Abu Dhabi, November 5, 2025 – UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan led a series of condolences to the family of Dick Cheney, the former Vice President of the United States, who passed away on Monday at the age of 84.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, along with His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, also sent heartfelt messages of sympathy to Cheney’s family.
Cheney died on Monday night due to complications from pneumonia and underlying cardiac and vascular conditions. His family confirmed his passing, noting his age as 84.
Dick Cheney served as the 46th Vice President of the United States from 2001 to 2009 under President George W. Bush. Known for his strong influence on executive policies, Cheney was a central figure in advocating for an expanded role of the presidency. He was also a key architect behind the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq in 2003.
Cheney’s death marks the passing of a prominent and controversial figure in American politics, whose policies and decisions had lasting impacts on both domestic governance and international relations. The condolences from UAE leaders reflect the respect for his role on the global political stage and the diplomatic ties between the United States and the United Arab Emirates
