Since opening in March, the UAE’s Madhol Field Hospital in South Sudan has provided medical care to over 50,000 people. The hospital was set up to help Sudanese refugees who had to leave their homes and needed treatment.
Located in Northern Bahr el Ghazal state, the hospital is equipped with modern medical tools and staff trained to treat serious health problems like heart disease and lung infections. It has 100 beds and offers special care for people with difficult medical conditions.
One of the many people who benefited from the hospital’s care is Iman, a 39-year-old Sudanese mother of three. She was widowed and sick when she arrived at the hospital. At first, she was thought to have tuberculosis. But after careful checks, the doctors found she actually had a serious lung problem called acute pulmonary embolism. Thanks to their quick and correct diagnosis, Iman received the right treatment and made a full recovery.

The Madhol hospital is the third medical center built by the UAE for Sudanese refugees. The other two are located in Amdjarass and Abéché, in Chad. All three hospitals are part of the UAE’s efforts to provide health services to people in need.
At the hospital's opening, Emirati Minister of State Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan said that the hospital would not only help refugees but also support people living in the area.
The UAE is working closely with international groups to help in important areas like healthcare and education. This project is part of their wider plan to support people affected by conflict or crisis, making sure they get the care and support they need.
