Amidst the aftermath of unprecedented rains in the UAE, the country's women's cricket team faced an overlooked challenge in their journey towards the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup qualifiers. Comprising players from expatriate communities, the UAE team has made remarkable strides in recent years, culminating in their participation in the global qualifiers. Despite lacking a robust infrastructure for women's cricket until 2010, the team earned the opportunity to compete in the final qualifying tournament from April 24 to May 7 in Abu Dhabi.
However, their preparations were marred by the cancellation of the 2024 United Arab Emirates Women's Quadrangular Series, a warm-up event featuring the UAE, Netherlands, Scotland, and the US, due to the adverse weather conditions. Undeterred by this setback, the UAE women embarked on their quest for World Cup qualification with determination.

Initially facing defeats against Ireland and Zimbabwe, the UAE staged a remarkable comeback by defeating the Netherlands, a seasoned team in women's cricket, by 10 wickets. Led by captain Esha Oza and bolstered by Samaira Dharnidharka's impressive bowling performance, the UAE team showcased resilience and self-belief as they chased down their target with ease.
Buoyed by their victory, the UAE girls are now focused on consolidating their position in Group B as they face Vanuatu in their next encounter. Captain Esha Oza emphasized the team's determination to qualify for the World Cup, highlighting their unwavering commitment to success.
Despite facing challenges posed by inclement weather, the team remains undeterred in their pursuit of victory. As they gear up for their upcoming match against Vanuatu, the UAE squad maintains a positive mindset and a laser focus on their goals. With a blend of talent, determination, and teamwork, they are poised to make their mark on the international stage and inspire a new generation of cricketers in the UAE.
