Jaya Bachchan, Waheeda Rehman attend Kamini Kaushal’s prayer meet

Veteran actor Kamini Kaushal, who passed away at the age of 98, was remembered in Mumbai as several members of the film fraternity gathered to honour her legacy. A prayer meet was held in the city, where numerous well-known personalities arrived to pay their final respects. Videos shared on social media showed Jaya Bachchan and Waheeda Rehman in attendance.

Jaya Bachchan was among the first to arrive, dressed in white and seen greeting other senior guests. Waheeda Rehman reached soon after, wearing a simple saree. Some clips also captured the two veteran actors sharing a quiet and heartfelt conversation. Actor Raza Murad was also present at the gathering. According to reports, the atmosphere inside the hall remained simple and serene, without elaborate decor or formal speeches. Attendees sat in silence, offering condolences and reflecting on Kamini Kaushal’s extensive contribution to Indian cinema.

Kamini Kaushal passed away on November 14 in Mumbai. Her final rites were performed at the Worli crematorium on Saturday, with close family members in attendance.

Many celebrities expressed their grief online. Actors such as Kareena Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor, Kiara Advani, Amitabh Bachchan, and Anupam Kher shared heartfelt tributes, recalling their memories of working with her in films like Kabir Singh, Laal Singh Chaddha, and others.

Kamini Kaushal began her career when filmmaker Chetan Anand cast her in Neecha Nagar (1946), which went on to win the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. Over a remarkable seven-decade-long journey, she delivered memorable performances in celebrated films such as Biraj Bahu, Shaheed, Arzoo, and Ziddi. After the 1990s, she appeared in films occasionally, including roles in Chennai Express, Kabir Singh, and Laal Singh Chaddha.
