In North Darfur, Sudan, up to 10,000 people have fled the city of al-Fashir following its capture last week by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces. Many arrived in the town of Tawila, seeking safety and medical assistance.
At a local clinic operated by an international aid organization, patients described harrowing escapes from the violence in al-Fashir. The clinic is now treating dozens of severely malnourished children, as well as men with serious injuries requiring surgery.
The influx of displaced people has placed enormous pressure on local healthcare facilities. Medical staff are working tirelessly to provide urgent care, including wound treatment, nutritional support, and surgical interventions.
Aid workers have warned that the situation could worsen if humanitarian assistance does not reach the region quickly. The crisis highlights the growing instability in North Darfur and the urgent need for international support to protect civilians and provide essential services.
This mass displacement underscores the ongoing humanitarian challenges in Sudan, as armed conflict continues to force thousands from their homes, leaving many vulnerable to malnutrition, disease, and injury
