Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC), a top hospital in the UAE known for treating serious and complex health problems, has started a new Survivorship Clinic. This clinic is part of PureHealth group and is made especially for people who have finished their cancer treatment. It will help them deal with life after cancer.
This new clinic is an important step in improving care for cancer survivors. It focuses not just on physical health but also on emotional and mental well-being. The goal is to help patients recover fully and live healthy lives after treatment.

The clinic brings together a team of different health experts. This team includes cancer doctors, general doctors, diet experts, physiotherapists, and mental health professionals. They all work together to give the best care to each patient.
Dr. Abdulqader Almessabi, who is the Chief Medical Officer at SSMC, said, “This new clinic shows how much we care about our patients even after they finish their treatment. It’s a big step in our journey to give complete and personal care to cancer patients. Our team works together to make sure each person gets the help they need to live better and stronger after cancer.”
What makes this clinic different is its all-in-one approach. Instead of visiting many doctors on different days, patients can meet all the needed specialists in one visit. This saves time and makes the healing process smoother.
The clinic also gives special advice about healthy eating, checks for any risks of cancer coming back, and offers age-appropriate tests to catch cancer early if it returns. It also helps patients deal with the long-term side effects of treatments like chemotherapy and provides mental health support when needed.
Dr. Aydah Al Awadhi, the head of the Haematology and Oncology Division and a cancer doctor at SSMC, also shared her thoughts. She said, “As more people survive cancer, it is very important to support them after treatment. Research shows that special survivorship programs like ours can improve a person’s physical, emotional, and social life. These programs also help manage long-term side effects, improve follow-up care, and keep patients on track with healthy habits. Our Survivorship Clinic will give full check-ups and care plans, not just regular doctor visits, so every patient feels cared for in the best way.”
This clinic shows SSMC’s strong promise to be there for patients every step of the way, even after cancer treatment ends.
