H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, has reached Johannesburg, South Africa, to take part in the 2025 G20 Summit. He is attending the event on behalf of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. This year, the UAE was invited to the G20 Summit by Cyril Ramaphosa, the President of South Africa. The invitation reflects the strong ties between the UAE and South Africa and the international community's recognition of the UAE’s active involvement in major global issues. The G20 Summit brings together the world’s largest economies to discuss economic, social, and environmental matters affecting people everywhere.

Sheikh Khaled is accompanied by a high-level UAE delegation that includes several key ministers and senior officials. Among them are Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, and Mohamed Hassan Alsuwaidi, Minister of Investment. Also part of the delegation are Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of State; Saeed Mubarak Al Hajeri, Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and Saif Saeed Ghobash, Secretary-General of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and Chairman of the Office of the Crown Prince. In addition, Maryam Eid AlMheiri, Chairperson of Abu Dhabi Media Office and Advisor of Strategic Relations, is also attending.

This year’s G20 Summit holds special importance as it is being hosted in Africa for the first time. The theme highlights the continent’s growing influence in the global economy and the urgent need for inclusive development. The agenda focuses on several key topics, including inclusive economic growth, building a fair and balanced transition in the energy sector, and speeding up global progress toward the sustainable development goals.

The UAE’s presence at the summit reflects its strong belief in collective efforts to address shared challenges. As a country that has always supported international collaboration, the UAE aims to contribute to discussions that can lead to better opportunities for economic development and improved living standards worldwide. The summit will bring together world leaders to exchange ideas, share best practices, and create new partnerships that support global stability and prosperity.

By attending the G20 Summit, the UAE reaffirms its role in promoting cooperation in areas such as economic development, energy innovation, and sustainable future planning. These efforts align with the UAE’s long-term vision to support growth both regionally and globally.

As discussions begin, the UAE delegation will highlight the country’s experiences in promoting economic diversification, encouraging innovation, and advancing clean and renewable energy. These topics are central to the UAE’s national agenda and are also key global priorities. Through its active engagement at the G20, the UAE aims to contribute to solutions that benefit both developed and developing nations.

The UAE’s participation at this year’s G20 Summit reinforces its strong commitment to global dialogue, economic partnerships, and sustainable development.
