H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, has reached Johannesburg, South Africa, to take part in the 2025 G20 Summit. He is attending the event on behalf of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The UAE’s participation in this major global gathering shows its growing role in international cooperation and its commitment to supporting global development efforts.
This year, the UAE was invited to the G20 Summit by Cyril Ramaphosa, the President of South Africa. The invitation reflects the strong ties between the UAE and South Africa and the international community's recognition of the UAE’s active involvement in major global issues. The G20 Summit brings together the world’s largest economies to discuss economic, social, and environmental matters affecting people everywhere.
Sheikh Khaled is accompanied by a high-level UAE delegation that includes several key ministers and senior officials. Among them are Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, and Mohamed Hassan Alsuwaidi, Minister of Investment. Also part of the delegation are Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of State; Saeed Mubarak Al Hajeri, Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and Saif Saeed Ghobash, Secretary-General of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and Chairman of the Office of the Crown Prince. In addition, Maryam Eid AlMheiri, Chairperson of Abu Dhabi Media Office and Advisor of Strategic Relations, is also attending.
This year’s G20 Summit holds special importance as it is being hosted in Africa for the first time. The theme highlights the continent’s growing influence in the global economy and the urgent need for inclusive development. The agenda focuses on several key topics, including inclusive economic growth, building a fair and balanced transition in the energy sector, and speeding up global progress toward the sustainable development goals.
