Sharjah Ruler Meets Acting UAE Education Minister to Boost Higher Ed

Sharjah, UAE – In a significant move to advance the nation’s higher education sector, His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, welcomed His Excellency Dr Abdulrahman Al Awar, Acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, at Al Badee Palace on Thursday. The meeting reflected the continuous collaboration between the leadership and educational institutions to nurture national talent and academic excellence.

During the meeting, His Highness praised the dedicated efforts of the Sharjah Council for Higher Education and Scientific Research and other entities in enhancing the UAE’s academic landscape. He emphasized that education is a cornerstone of national development, achieved through structured programs, universities, schools, and continuous learning initiatives.

“Education is the foundation on which the progress of nations depends. He highlighted that well-structured educational systems and modern teaching methods must complement one another without compromising quality or the interaction between teachers and students.

The discussion also covered the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s ongoing programs aimed at supporting universities and academies across the UAE. These initiatives focus on offering advanced academic programs aligned with the visionary goals of the nation’s leadership, ensuring that students receive globally competitive education and research opportunities.

His Excellency Dr Abdulrahman Al Awar expressed his gratitude for the guidance and support provided by the Ruler of Sharjah, noting the significant accomplishments of Sharjah’s universities and research institutions under His Highness’s leadership. He acknowledged that the continued focus on quality education and research excellence plays a vital role in preparing the next generation of national leaders and innovators.

The meeting was attended by key figures from Sharjah’s educational institutions, including Her Excellency Hajar Al Dhahli, Secretary-General of the Education, Human Development and Community Council; Dr Mansour bin Nassar, Chairman of the Legal Department of Sharjah; Dr Muhadditha Al Hashemi, Chairperson of Sharjah Education Academy; and members of the Executive Committee of the Sharjah Council for Higher Education and Scientific Research.
