The Sharjah Government Communication Award (SGCA) is now in its 12th year. This award is not just any competition. It is a special platform that helps build future leaders in the field of government communication. The main goal of this award is to prepare young people and professionals to be ready for the fast-changing world of communication.
Applications Are Open Until 24 July 2025
If you want to participate in this award, you can apply before 24 July 2025. The application process is open to many people. It is not only for government departments. Private companies, international organisations, and individuals can also apply. You can easily submit your application online at https://gca.sgmb.ae/en.
Why Is This Award Important?
Today, communication is very important in every field. It is no longer seen as a soft skill that is only nice to have. Communication is now among the top five essential skills needed in management and business. This is because leaders need to share ideas clearly, solve problems, and build trust with people around them.

Focus on Youth and Universities
The award has many categories, and some of them are specially made for young people and university students. There is a category called “Best Youth Initiative in Government Communication.” This category gives young minds a chance to become leaders. It helps them develop skills to create social impact and become confident in their decisions.
A study done by the YTH Initiative found that youth-focused communication programmes can increase leadership and self-confidence levels by more than 45%. This shows that when young people learn how to communicate well, they also become strong leaders who can inspire others.
Recognising the Best Spokespersons
Another important category in this award is “Best Official Spokesperson.” This category honours people who speak on behalf of their organisations in the best way. It focuses on transparency and quick response. A recent study by Edelman Trust Barometer 2024 found that 63% of people trust spokespersons who are open, honest, and respond quickly. This means that people believe in leaders who communicate truthfully and without delays.
Using Digital Content Creatively
Today, most people spend time on their phones watching videos. The award understands this and has a category called “Best Changemakers in Digital Content.” This category is for those who create short videos and digital content to share important messages. A Hubspot report showed that 82% of internet users watch short-form video content every day. This means that leaders who can create such content can reach and inspire many people online.
Connecting Studies With Real Life
Communication is not just about talking or writing well. It is also about using knowledge and research in real life. This is why the award has a category called “Best Research in Communication Sciences.” This category bridges the gap between theory and practice.
For example, a University of Michigan study found that organisations using scientific research in their communication saw 71% higher campaign success rates. This shows that data and research can help leaders make better decisions and create successful projects.
Universities Challenge: Solving Real Problems
The award also has a “Universities Challenge” category. This is organised with the United Arab Emirates University. In this challenge, university students solve real communication problems. This helps students apply what they learn in classrooms to real situations. According to the World Economic Forum, communication and critical thinking are two of the most important skills needed for future jobs by 2030. This challenge is helping students build these skills today so that they are ready for tomorrow.
Learning Artificial Intelligence for Communication
The world is changing fast because of new technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI). To keep up with this change, the award has introduced a new category called “Artificial Intelligence Skills Camp (AISC).” This camp will teach young leaders how to use AI tools for better communication.
A report by edX in 2023 found that 92% of global executives plan to learn AI skills in the next two years. This means that AI is becoming an important part of leadership, and young people must learn it to stay ahead.
A Platform for National Excellence
The Sharjah Government Communication Award is organised by the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB). It is not just about giving awards. It is about creating a platform for excellence. It helps nurture talent, reward creative ideas, and make the UAE a global leader in government communication.
The award has strong partnerships with institutions, universities, and private sectors. It believes that when talented people are recognised, they will work harder and achieve even more. This will make the country stronger and more successful in the world.
Why Should You Apply?
If you are a young person, university student, or someone working in government communication, this is your chance to:
Show your talent to the world
Learn new skills
Meet experts and leaders in communication
Build your self-confidence
Make a difference in society
The Sharjah Government Communication Award is more than just a trophy. It is a journey to become a leader who can communicate clearly, use technology wisely, and inspire others. The world needs such leaders today and in the future.
If you want to become part of this journey and build your career in communication, do not miss this opportunity. Apply before 24 July 2025 at https://gca.sgmb.ae/en and take your first step towards becoming a communication leader of tomorrow.
