Sanad, Rolls-Royce Expand Trent 700 MRO Deal to 2031

Sanad, a global leader in aerospace engineering and leasing solutions, has signed a major new agreement with Rolls-Royce to expand their long-running Trent 700 engine maintenance partnership. The announcement was made during the Singapore Airshow 2025.

Sanad is wholly owned by Mubadala Investment Company PJSC, Abu Dhabi’s sovereign investor.

The new deal strengthens a partnership that began in 2012 and has now completed more than 10 years of collaboration. During this period, Sanad has maintained more than 300 Trent 700 engines for over 25 operators, earning a strong reputation as one of Rolls-Royce’s most trusted independent maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) partners.

Under the expanded agreement, Sanad will now support up to 612 Trent 700 engine shop visits through 2031. This is an increase of 277 shop visits compared to the current commitment. With this, Sanad further strengthens its position as the largest independent Trent 700 MRO provider in the world and an important part of Rolls-Royce’s global support network.

The Trent 700 engine powers more than 60% of the global Airbus A330 fleet, with over 1,400 active engines currently in service. The engine also sees strong maintenance demand, with more than 250 shop visits needed every year.

As global passenger and cargo travel continues to recover, many Airbus A330 operators are extending the life of their aircraft. Several airlines are also converting passenger A330 aircraft into freighters to meet growing logistics and cargo demand.

Paul Keenan, Director of Commercial Aviation Aftermarket Operations at Rolls-Royce, said the increase in Sanad’s Trent 700 capacity supports Rolls-Royce’s goal to significantly expand global MRO capacity by 2030. He also thanked Sanad for helping Rolls-Royce deliver strong services to customers worldwide.

The expanded agreement is among the largest Trent 700 MRO partnerships in recent years. It also supports Abu Dhabi’s growing role as a global aerospace hub and aligns with the UAE’s national vision to grow high-tech manufacturing, innovation, and sustainability in key industries.

With nearly 39 years of experience, Sanad currently serves more than 55 airlines worldwide and holds long-term contracts worth over AED 38 billion, continuing its role as a major provider of reliable and advanced aviation MRO solutions.
