Samsung is turning the television into something far smarter than a screen. The company has started rolling out its Vision AI Companion across its 2025 TV lineup — a new assistant that lets viewers talk directly to their TVs and get instant answers about what they’re watching.
First shown at IFA 2025 in Berlin, Vision AI Companion introduces a conversational interface powered by an upgraded version of Samsung’s Bixby voice assistant. Viewers can ask natural, context-aware questions like “Who is this actor?” or “What’s this painting about?” The answers appear visually on the TV screen itself, so you no longer need to grab your phone or search online.
Samsung says the system combines multiple large language models, including Microsoft Copilot and Perplexity, to provide relevant, accurate, and visually rich responses. The feature supports ten languages at launch, such as English, Korean, and Spanish, and works across live broadcasts, Samsung TV Plus, and major streaming apps.
The AI goes beyond just explaining what’s on screen. It can suggest similar shows or movies, share recipe ideas, or even recommend local restaurants and travel tips — all while maintaining the same conversational flow. The experience is designed to feel smooth and natural, with on-screen visuals keeping the focus on what you’re watching.
Vision AI Companion joins a wider suite of AI tools in Samsung’s 2025 range. Live Translate provides real-time translation of dialogue, AI Gaming Mode fine-tunes visuals and audio during gameplay, and Generative Wallpaper adjusts background themes based on user preferences. Features like AI Picture, AVA Pro, and AI Upscaling Pro continue to handle clarity and resolution across content types.
The feature will be available on Samsung’s Neo QLED, Micro RGB, OLED, QLED step-up models, Smart Monitors, and The Movingstyle series — all powered by the One UI Tizen platform. Samsung promises up to seven years of OS updates, covering both new features and security, an unusually long commitment for smart TVs.
By combining voice, visuals, and generative AI, Samsung is aiming to make the television the central intelligent screen of the home. For years, TVs could take commands — now, they can hold a conversation.
