He said, "Every day I wake up and I'm honoured to be in this position. I feel extremely grateful for it. I'm excited by it and I will give it absolutely everything I've got. We all will."
Fans Are The Heart Of Rangers
Martin spoke about how important the supporters are for Rangers. He said fans stay with the club for their whole lives. Players and coaches change, but fans remain forever. That is why he wants to put a team on the field that makes every supporter proud. According to Martin, the first match of the season is the best time to make fans excited and hopeful for the upcoming games.
He said, "That's what this club, the people, the supporters demand - those who will outstay all of us. I just want to put a team on the pitch that they are proud of."
Creating A Strong Bond From The First Match
Russell Martin believes that the bond between players and fans should start right from the first match. He said if fans see something exciting on the field, they will feel happy, and players will also feel stronger because of their support. He called the upcoming match an amazing chance to start this connection.
He explained, "It has to start on Tuesday. They have to see something to be excited about and we do too. The players have to feel something and it's an amazing opportunity and game to do that."
Positive Energy In Training
Martin shared that he is very happy with what he has seen in training sessions so far. He said that players are showing great energy and are open to learning new ideas and following new rules. Even if these rules are different from what they had earlier, the players are ready to accept them with a positive attitude.
He said, "What we've seen in training has been amazing. They've come with fresh energy, willingness and openness to new ideas, demands - to maybe different rules to what they've had before - and they've been great the way they've embraced it."
Challenge Of Playing In Front Of 50,000 Fans
Russell Martin knows that playing in front of 50,000 fans is not an easy thing. He said that it is a big challenge for any player to perform well when so many people are watching them and the match means so much to them. But he believes that his team is ready for this test.
He said, "Now the biggest challenge is for them to do it in front of 50,000 people with a game that means so much to so many people. For any football player, that's the biggest test."
Fans Must Leave With Smiles
Martin wants to make sure that after the match, fans leave the stadium feeling happy and positive about their team. He wants them to see the new team and feel excited about how it is shaping up for the future.
He said, "One thing that has to come out is that the supporters leave feeling positively about their team, their new-look team, the way it's going to start to shape up."
Building A Powerful Connection
Russell Martin believes that if the fans, players, and the whole club work together with full energy, then Rangers will be very hard to stop. He said that when the club, Ibrox Stadium, and supporters are connected with each other, it becomes a very strong force.
He said, "I hope that the fans will leave feeling excited about what's to come and there will start being a real connection, because I think if we can be connected - the whole club, Ibrox, the supporters - if this club has that, with that energy, I think it's going to take some stopping. I think it's really powerful."
Winning Attitude Is Very Important
Finally, Martin said that the most important thing is how much the players want to win. Their hunger, character, and desire to give their best will make a big difference. He said he is confident that his players will show this strong attitude in the match.
He said, "We have to all believe in something and that will be how much the players are willing to win, the hunger, the character, the desire to show and I'm confident that we'll see that."
Russell Martin, the new Rangers head coach, is excited about his first match against Panathinaikos in the Champions League qualifying round. He wants to create a strong connection between players and fans from the very first match of the season. Martin believes that if the players play with energy and fans support them with full passion, then Rangers will become a very powerful team that will be hard to beat.
