New Delhi: In a focused effort to unravel the full scope of the deadly car explosion near Delhi’s iconic Red Fort on November 10, Delhi Police Special Cell has intensified its probe, tracking vehicles and questioning drivers who were present near the blast site. The high-intensity explosion claimed 13 lives, injured over 20 others, and left several vehicles damaged in the congested area near Red Fort Metro Station.
Authorities have prepared a detailed list of every vehicle that entered the nearby parking lot where the Hyundai i20, driven by Dr. Umar Nabi, was stationed for over three hours before the blast. Investigators are now tracing the registration numbers of these vehicles and interviewing drivers and owners to determine whether anyone noticed the car and its occupants during that crucial timeframe.
“Every driver who was present there around that time is being traced to determine whether they saw the HR-26 car, how many people were inside it, and whether anyone else was accompanying Umar,” a source said. Investigators have also shared Umar Nabi’s photograph with witnesses to verify if he was alone in the vehicle or if anyone else entered or exited during the three-hour window. The primary aim is to reconstruct the sequence of events and establish whether the explosive device was planted inside the car at the parking lot or transported from elsewhere.
Parallel to this, agencies are probing the involvement of Dr. Muzammil Ganaie and other doctors affiliated with Al Falah University in Faridabad, Haryana. According to investigators, around 15 doctors who had regular contact with Dr. Ganaie are currently untraceable. Call detail records revealed multiple communications between Dr. Ganaie and several colleagues. When authorities attempted to contact these individuals, their phones were switched off, and a team sent to Al Falah University found most of them missing. The agencies are exploring whether these missing persons played any role in the planning or logistics of the alleged terror plot.
The Red Fort explosion followed a major bust earlier on the same day, when agencies dismantled a “white collar terror module” operating across Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh. The raid resulted in the seizure of 2,900 kilograms of explosives and the arrest of eight individuals, including three doctors.
The Delhi Police has also registered a separate FIR under criminal conspiracy sections to probe the deeper motives and connections behind the blast. The earlier FIR, registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), has been transferred to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for further investigation.
Investigators are leaving no stone unturned in piecing together the sequence of events leading to the Red Fort tragedy. By combining eyewitness accounts, vehicle tracking, forensic evidence, and digital communications, authorities aim to fully expose the network behind this deadly terror act and bring all perpetrators to justice.
The Red Fort explosion has shaken the national capital, raising urgent questions about security in public spaces and the potential involvement of organized terror networks disguised under professional or educational affiliations. The ongoing investigation underscores Delhi Police’s commitment to ensuring accountability and public safety in the aftermath of one of the city’s most shocking attacks in recent years.
