The Ibu volcano on Indonesia's Halmahera Island erupted once again, ejecting volcanic ash up to 5,000 meters into the sky, as reported by the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation.
The eruption, lasting over two minutes, occurred at 11:36 a.m. local time on Monday. According to Ridwan Djalil, an officer at the Ibu Volcano Observation Post, the thick ash column moved towards the southwest and west.

The center elevated the volcano's hazard status from level three to the highest level, four, on May 16 due to a significant rise in its recent activity. Local residents have been advised to steer clear of the danger zone within a 4 km radius and 7 km in the northern sector of the crater.
