Bangkok, Thailand – October 30, 2025:
The Kingdom of Thailand has entered a profound period of mourning following the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, The Queen Mother, a beloved royal whose grace, compassion, and lifelong service have profoundly shaped the nation’s modern identity.
In tribute to her remarkable life and dedication to the Thai people, the Royal Thai Government has declared an official mourning period beginning October 25, 2025. For the next 30 days, national flags will be flown at half-mast across all government offices, state enterprises, and educational institutions. Civil servants and government employees will wear mourning attire for one year, while the general public is encouraged to dress in black or subdued tones for 90 days as a symbol of respect and remembrance.
Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, revered as the Mother of the Nation, was known for her unwavering commitment to social welfare, traditional arts, and women’s empowerment. Through her initiatives in rural development, handicrafts, and cultural preservation, she elevated the lives of countless citizens while promoting Thailand’s rich artistic heritage on the global stage.
While the nation grieves, the government has clarified that public life will continue. Entertainment venues, tourism services, and businesses will remain operational, though organizers are encouraged to moderate festive activities and ensure that events are conducted with decorum and sensitivity. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has accordingly adjusted all promotional campaigns and postponed celebratory programs to align with the solemn national mood.
Visitors to Thailand during this period are warmly welcomed and will find the country fully open with all attractions, transportation, restaurants, and shops functioning as normal. Tourists are kindly requested to dress respectfully, especially when visiting temples, royal residences, or government buildings, and to observe the nation’s atmosphere of quiet reflection.
As Thailand comes together in remembrance, the people express profound gratitude for the late Queen Mother’s lifelong devotion, her compassion for the underprivileged, and her steadfast efforts to uplift communities across the nation.
Her Majesty Queen Sirikit’s enduring legacy continues to guide the Thai people—her life a testament to grace, dignity, and unity, the very values that remain at the heart of Thailand’s national spirit.
