Belinda Bencic won the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open for the second time after defeating Ashlyn Krueger in the final match. In the doubles event, Jelena Ostapenko and Ellen Perez became champions by winning against Shuai Zhang and Kristina Mladenovic. The tournament took place at the International Tennis Centre in Zayed Sports City and lasted for eight days. Many tennis fans came to watch the matches, and the stadium was full of excited people cheering for their favorite players.

Bencic and Krueger both played very well to reach the final. Bencic had a tough match against last year’s champion, Elena Rybakina. She lost the first set but fought back to win the match. Krueger also performed strongly, defeating Linda Noskova to enter the final. The final match was thrilling, with both players giving their best effort. However, Bencic’s experience helped her win the title once again.
Many important guests attended the event, including His Excellency Aref Al Awani, General Secretary of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Dr. Ahmed Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Acting Assistant General Secretary of ADSC, Homaid Al Shimmari, Deputy Group CEO at Mubadala Investment Company, Portia Archer, CEO of WTA, Roberto Ranieri, WTA Supervisor, Claire Wood, Tournament Referee, and Nigel Gupta, Tournament Director.
His Excellency Aref Al Awani praised the tournament’s success and thanked the players, fans, and organizers for their hard work. He congratulated Belinda Bencic for her brilliant performance and said the tournament is helping tennis grow in the UAE and inspiring young players. He was happy to see many school students attending, as this shows how the event is making a positive impact. He also said this tournament proves that Abu Dhabi is great at hosting big international sports events.
Homaid Al Shimmari also congratulated the winners. He said the tournament brought top players together, making fans happy and improving the status of women’s tennis. He also said Mubadala is proud to support events that inspire young athletes and make Abu Dhabi a top sports destination. He is excited for next year’s event and hopes to see more future champions.
In the doubles final, Ostapenko and Perez played strongly against Zhang and Mladenovic, winning in just 60 minutes. They reached the final without losing a single set, and the final match was also easy for them, as they won without trouble.
On the last day, young tennis players from the Road to Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open program were also honored. This program helps young players in the UAE improve their skills and compete internationally. It is approved by the UAE Tennis Federation and includes tournaments in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Fujairah. The best players from these competitions get to play in the WTA 500 event. Timur Gordeev won the Under-16 Boys title again, while Karen John won in the girls’ category. Isabelle James defended her Under-14 Girls title, and Alexi Rafa Aldemita won in the boys’ group. In the Under-12 section, Ryan Abou Jamra and Sophie Himmelreich were crowned winners.
The Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open is not just about tennis matches. It also helps young students learn about the sport. Through the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open Schools Programme, more than 25,000 children in Abu Dhabi took part in tennis-related activities. Over 17,000 students attended fun sessions in schools, joined art contests, and had special training with Tennis 360. The program made learning tennis fun and exciting, helping more kids develop an interest in the sport.
During the tournament, over 25,000 students and teachers visited the Mubadala Tennis Village. They watched live matches and enjoyed different activities. The Mubadala Tennis Village was a large 15,000-square-meter area with different sections for food, games, and family-friendly entertainment, making it a fun experience for visitors.
Now that the tournament has ended, fans are already excited for the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open 2025. The event has become one of the best tennis competitions, bringing together top players, young talents, and passionate fans. With its high-level matches, community activities, and fun entertainment, the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open will continue to grow bigger next year, inspiring more people to love tennis.
