It aligns with UAE's intention to keep its cultural heritage thriving. The initiative involves numerous events and activities formulated to enhance students' grasp of the Emirati culture.
The Emirati coffee ritual, also known as "Sana’ al-Qahwa," serves as an exciting workshop, fostering connections through learning the art of coffee-making and serving. An additional program focuses on falconry, a symbol of strength and courage, ensuring its continuity by educating the youth about its tradition. Chancellor of MBZUH, Dr. Khalifa Mubarak Al Dhaheri, voiced that the "Authentic Identity and Sustainable Heritage" initiative underlines the university's pledge towards safeguarding the UAE’s national identity.
He stressed that it mirrors the UAE leaders' aim of harmonizing development with reverence for their ancestors. The project also emphasizes the role of the younger generation in preserving and propagating the Emirati traditions. Dr. Al Dhaheri elaborated that the activities in the initiative are designed to embed national identity into daily life.
They train students to comprehend Emirati practices and shed light on how they can contribute to their preservation. Lastly, he mentioned how the university's approach to enlightening students about national identity complements the UAE's vision of igniting national pride. This aligns with the UAE’s ambition to be globally recognized for peace, tolerance, and fostering intercultural comprehension.
