The organising committee of the Kite World Cup has announced that all preparations for the event are now complete. This championship will be hosted for the first time in Abu Dhabi, UAE, as part of the Fahid Island Watersports Festival. The festival will start on Saturday, 25th October, and continue until 2nd November. Over 150 elite professional athletes from around the world are expected to participate, making it a major international sporting event.
A press conference was held on Fahid Island to present details of the festival and the World Championship. Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE Sailing and Rowing Federation, attended the event along with many athletes and partners. The committee shared information about the schedule, competitions, and activities planned during the week-long festival.
The championship is organised in partnership with Aldar, Abu Dhabi Sports Council, and AD Ports Group. The festival features a world-class sporting programme that includes kitesurfing, wing foiling, e-foiling, hydrofoiling, wake foiling, and freestyle surfing. The diverse range of watersports highlights Abu Dhabi’s commitment to becoming a leading global destination for international competitions.
The event will see some of the most prominent international athletes competing. Among them are French athlete Kylie Belloeuvre, Spanish athlete Borja Vellon, American athlete Justin Chait, Emirati kitesurfer Mohammed Al Mansoori, and Fryderyk Szczesny, a resident of Abu Dhabi. Their participation brings high competition levels and global attention to the championship.
The Fahid Island Watersports Festival is designed to strengthen Abu Dhabi’s reputation as a global hub for watersports. In addition to competitions, the festival will feature live shows and family-friendly entertainment. Visitors can enjoy a combination of high-level sports and recreational activities in a scenic coastal setting.
Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Nahyan expressed pride that Abu Dhabi is hosting such a prestigious global event. He highlighted the cooperation between partners and supporting entities to ensure that the championship is presented in the best possible way. The leadership aims to emphasize the significance of this event on an international stage.
Emirati athlete Mohammed Al Mansoori affirmed his readiness to compete alongside fellow UAE athletes. He noted that the period leading up to the championship involved careful preparation and training to perform well against some of the world’s top competitors. The participation of local athletes is expected to inspire young sports enthusiasts in the UAE.
From 25th October to 2nd November, the festival will host various watersports competitions, live entertainment, and cultural shows. The event offers an opportunity for fans and families to witness elite sports while enjoying an engaging and festive atmosphere. Fahid Island is set to become a vibrant centre of sporting excitement during this week-long celebration.
