His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, attended the "Our Ambition: Elevating UAE Talent for Global Competitiveness" session, held on the sidelines of the UAE Government 2024 Annual Meetings in Abu Dhabi. This significant event gathered over 500 leaders and officials from various federal and local organizations, marking a pivotal moment in the ongoing dialogue about the future of Emirati talent.
The session was presented by His Excellency Ghannam Al Mazrouei, the Secretary General of the Emirati Talent Competitiveness Council. The discussion was centered on a range of critical topics, with a special emphasis on the UAE’s sustained efforts to enhance the competitiveness of its national workforce. Al Mazrouei outlined several innovative initiatives and strategic plans that are designed to empower Emirati professionals, preparing them to excel in both the local and global labor markets.

One of the key highlights of the session was the UAE's commitment to launching national training programs that focus on developing the skills of Emirati professionals in line with the evolving needs of the workforce. The session underscored the importance of innovation, with a focus on nurturing Emirati entrepreneurs to thrive in the competitive business environment. This focus on entrepreneurship aims to create sustainable opportunities for Emirati talent to not only contribute to the national economy but also to compete on an international scale.
Another key topic discussed was the strengthening of public-private partnerships, which are vital for creating sustainable career opportunities for Emirati talent. The session also stressed the importance of building a knowledge-based economy that not only enhances the capabilities of national talent but also raises their global competitiveness. By continuing to invest in Emirati talent, the UAE aims to create a future where its workforce is equipped to meet the challenges of the evolving global landscape.
His Excellency Ghannam Al Mazrouei also provided an update on the progress of the Nafis program, which was launched to increase the presence of Emirati talent in the private sector. Since its inception in September 2021, the Nafis program has already generated thousands of job opportunities for young Emiratis. This initiative underscores the UAE leadership's commitment to empowering Emirati youth by integrating them into competitive roles across various sectors, equipping them with the skills and knowledge necessary for their professional growth and success.
During his address, His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan emphasized the importance of expanding the scope of national programs and initiatives that aim to develop Emirati talent for both local and global competitiveness. Aligning with the UAE's broader vision for the future, he reiterated the leadership’s focus on fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and the development of a knowledge-based economy. The Crown Prince highlighted the significant role that national talent will play in advancing sustainable development across various sectors in the UAE.
Sheikh Khaled praised the remarkable achievements of the Nafis program, particularly its success in significantly increasing the employment of national talent in the private sector. He noted that the program has reached record levels of Emirati employment, with the number of Emiratis in the private sector continuing to grow. Sheikh Khaled reaffirmed the leadership's commitment to building on these positive outcomes, further increasing Emiratisation across all sectors in the future.
