Jaira Mayus: Turning Life’s Challenges into UAE’s Anthem of Hope-Voices of UAE

For Jaira Mayus, music has never been just a hobby. It’s been a calling — a voice inside his heart that has guided him since his childhood in Batulao, Philippines. Back in his elementary school days, he was a scholar at a local church that helped underprivileged students like him get an education. In return, he served in the church choir. It was there, surrounded by harmonies and heartfelt worship, that his love for singing grew into a purpose.

Jaira’s journey has never been a solo act. He is quick to name the people who have stood beside him — Mama Beth, Donna, Diana, and Dexter from his family, his partner Bal, his best friend Smile, his Llavore Music Records family, his Nextwave family, and friends like Jec, Jea, and Zhakie. “Their belief in me has kept me going, even in my toughest moments,” he says.

One of the most emotional moments in his career came during the first recording of an original song. As he sang a line that spoke of longing and deep connection, he found himself overwhelmed with emotion. “I was in tears while singing it,” he remembers. “I had truly felt every word.”

In his mid-20s, Jaira hit a point where he felt lost — unsure of his career path, his love life, or his future. He was stuck in place. Then a friend named Precy helped him return to his faith in God. That renewed faith became his anchor. “Since then, I’ve learned to be grateful for both blessings and challenges,” he says.

Jaira is no stranger to rejection. Early in his journey, some people told him he was “forcing” his voice. Instead of giving up, he sought training to sing naturally and comfortably. “Failure can be the very path that leads us to success,” he says.

The Heart Behind “Nung Dumating Ka”

His upcoming single Nung Dumating Ka (“From the Moment You Came”) is a song about second chances in love. It’s about proving you’ve learned from the past and will never make the same mistakes again. Recording the second verse brought him to tears — a moment that still lingers in his heart. He hopes anyone listening after heartbreak will feel hope again and believe that some things are worth waiting and fighting for.

Jaira is also the host of NEXTWAVE S2: Sounds of the Future on TikTok Live — a space he uses to inspire young dreamers. What began as a team has grown into a family bound by music, friendship, and love. He uses his platform to offer advice, share lessons, and help people discover their purpose.

One life lesson he’s learned from connecting with his audience is to truly understand people before giving advice. “It’s not easy when someone isn’t open-minded to accept guidance,” he says.

After almost a decade in the UAE, Jaira treasures its multicultural spirit. Being surrounded by dedicated artists and influencers has fueled his own growth. “It’s inspiring to see how many people now appreciate my singing,” he says.

If given the honor of performing at a UAE national event, he would choose This Is My Now — a song that captures exactly where he is in life: passionate, determined, and ready to shine.

“To anyone in the UAE chasing their dream but afraid to take the first step, start small, believe in yourself, and don’t be afraid to make mistakes. You’re never alone — there’s a whole community ready to support you,” he says.

His definition of success has changed over time. It’s no longer just about reaching the destination but about every small struggle and step that shapes you along the way.

Jaira sees himself as a role model, and he carries that responsibility with humility. “With dedication and faith, anyone can overcome challenges and achieve their dreams,” he believes.

Five years from now, he hopes UAE fans will remember him as someone who stayed true to his passion, never gave up, and inspired them to believe in themselves.

And to those who feel their dream is too far to reach, he leaves this message:
“Every great journey starts with a single step. Don’t be discouraged by distance. Keep believing, keep working, and trust that patience and perseverance can turn today’s dream into tomorrow’s reality.”

From a church choir in Batulao to the music-loving community of the UAE, Jaira Mayus’s story is a reminder that dreams may start small — but with faith, courage, and love, they can echo far beyond what we ever imagined.
