Jacqueline Fernandez’s mother, Kim Fernandez, passed away on Sunday in a hospital in Mumbai. Her team confirmed the sad news. Kim had been admitted to Lilavati Hospital last month after suffering a heart stroke. She was in the ICU, where she was being treated and recovering.
Jacqueline’s father, Elroy Fernandez, was seen outside the hospital during this time. Jacqueline was also visiting her mother regularly to be with her. She had to miss the IPL opening ceremony in Guwahati last month because she wanted to stay by her mother’s side. A source close to Jacqueline had said, “Jacqueline’s mother is still in the ICU, and the family is waiting for updates from the doctors. Jacqueline has chosen to be with her mother and will not perform at the IPL ceremony.”

In an old interview, Jacqueline had spoken about her mother. She called her mother an “inspiration” and said, “My mom always supported me. I miss her a lot. I live here alone without my parents. There are these two people who have been so strong and inspiring for me, which always keeps me going.”
Jacqueline was born in Manama, Bahrain, and grew up in a multi-ethnic family. Her mother, Kim, was of Malaysian and Canadian descent, while her father, Elroy Fernandez, is from Sri Lanka. The couple met in the 1980s when Kim was working as an air hostess.
