IPL 2024: Cummins Breaks Records, Mitchell, Harshal Cash In

In the IPL 2024 auction, Australian cricketer Pat Cummins made history by becoming the costliest player in IPL history, fetching a whopping ₹20.5 crore from Sunrisers Hyderabad. This fast-bowling all-rounder's acquisition set the auction floor ablaze. Following closely, New Zealand all-rounder Daryl Mitchell secured a lucrative deal with Chennai Super Kings for ₹14 crore.

Harshal Patel emerged as a significant attraction, breaking the bank for Punjab Kings, which acquired him for a substantial ₹11.75 crore. Rovman Powell, the West Indies T20 captain, sparked a fierce bidding war and was eventually sold to Rajasthan Royals for an impressive ₹7.40 crore. Powell, with a base price of ₹1 crore, became the first player to be auctioned in the IPL 2024 event.

Several notable players, including Steve Smith, Karun Nair, and Manish Pandey, did not find any takers in the auction.
