Apple’s new iPhone 16 might become much more costly. Experts say the price could go up by 30% in the USA. This is because the US government has added new taxes on things made in China.

Apple still makes many iPhones in China. Because of this, Apple may have to pay more money to bring iPhones into the USA. Experts say the price of the iPhone 16 Pro Max could go up by $350 (around ₹30,000). That means the new price might be $1,550 (around ₹1,33,000). Right now, the iPhone 16 Pro Max price is $1,199 (about ₹1,03,000).

Even if the price goes up, it may still be cheaper to buy in the USA than in India. In India, the same model costs ₹1,44,900. But remember, this is just a guess from some experts. Apple has not said anything official yet.

The iPhone 16 Pro model may become a little costly too. It may go up by $120 if Apple makes more phones in India.

Experts also said Apple is not sure how to manage the new costs. They may try to share the cost with their suppliers. Or they may ask buyers to pay more.

Because of this news, Apple’s stock price has gone down. It lost 20% in value in just 3 days. This means Apple lost about $640 billion in value. People who invest in Apple are worried that higher prices will stop people from buying iPhones.

Apple is one of the companies that is affected most by this new tax rule. China now has a 54% tax on electronics sent to the USA. Apple is trying to make phones in other places like India, Vietnam, and Thailand. But these places also have small taxes now.

Some experts had already said that iPhone prices might go up around the world by 6%. Others warned that Apple may lose 15% of its profits if it does not raise prices.

In the worst case, if Apple made all iPhones in the USA, the price of one iPhone could be as high as $3,500. That is because making phones in the USA costs a lot more.

Another report says Apple could lose $34 billion every year because of the new tax rules. Even though Apple is moving some work to other countries, it still makes most of its iPhones outside the USA.

Right now, it is not clear what Apple will do. Apple may ask the US government not to charge the tax. Or it may change its plan. If Apple lets buyers pay the extra cost, the iPhone 16 may come with a much higher price.
