In a united front, Canada and several nations have issued a statement advocating for the protection of humanitarian workers in Lebanon amidst escalating crises in the region. This declaration draws attention to the urgent need for civilian safety and the dangers faced by aid personnel in conflict zones.

Countries such as Australia, Brazil, Japan, and the United Kingdom have joined forces in this appeal, urging all parties to uphold international humanitarian law and prioritize the safety of both civilians and humanitarian workers.

While leaders welcomed a recent ceasefire involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, they underscored the necessity for an enduring cessation of hostilities in Lebanon. Protecting civilians and critical infrastructure was reiterated as a non-negotiable requirement.

The statement expressed strong condemnation of assaults jeopardizing humanitarian workers, including fatal incidents involving United Nations peacekeepers. Officials noted that such hostilities not only risk lives but also hinder essential humanitarian assistance to those in dire need.

The countries emphasized accountability, calling for justice in violations of international law, particularly those affecting humanitarian workers. This accountability, they argued, is vital for sustaining trust and ensuring future operations can proceed uninterrupted.

Additionally, they referenced a global declaration launched in September 2025, signed by over 100 nations committed to safeguarding humanitarian workers in conflict areas. Leaders reaffirmed their dedication to this initiative, stating that aid workers must operate without fear.

As Lebanon's crisis unfolds, the international community has committed to collaborative efforts aimed at improving conditions, supporting impacted populations, and ensuring that humanitarian initiatives can be carried out safely and effectively.
